The School's Aims:

The following is a list of our aims and objectives. They have not been printed in any particular order.

1. To create a stimulating, safe and secure environment where children, parents and staff can work to their full potential, feel valued and respected regardless of race, colour, creed

2. To deliver a broad, balanced and enriching curriculum by devising school policies based on both the 5-14 National and CNE-Siar Guidelines in the five main areas identified as Maths, Language, Environmental Studies, Expressive Arts, Religious and Moral / Personal and Social Education.

3. To give support to children by encompassing educational and social needs through planning and assessment procedures developed in collaboration with appropriate professionals.

4. To employ a range of teaching styles which will motivate children to develop independent, life long learning skills and support them according to their needs and ability in a positive environment.

5. To foster partnership between home and school and to welcome parental involvement in their child's education

6. To extend the experience of our pupils to include links with the local and wider community in Barra and the Western Isles, developing into national and world-wide contacts through our use of Information Communication Technology.

7. To deploy staff and resources effectively to implement the 5-14 curriculum to the best of our ability within the scope of Devolved School Management

8. To encourage teaching and support staff to make use of all opportunities for professional and personal development supported by the Headteacher at all times.
